We are still waiting on the dates of the World Champs. I will update you all as soon as they are confirmed but our planning and fundraising needs to starts now.
We have secured the dates for sausage sizzles at Bunnings through Sue and we need to make sure we have these manned as we can raise a good amount from these events.
For those not selected for the WAKO team or do not wish to attend we have been invited by IKO NZ to trial with them for the WOMAA world champs in Telford, UK 17th -19th August 2012.

December Newsletter
Dynamic Martial Arts-December 2011Newletter
Welcome all,
This is the last newsletter of 2011, boy so much has changed! New gym opened, myself taking over all kickboxing classes and a whole heap of new members.
Kick Bags
First item is our bags. We are waiting for Terry from Giant Engineering to finalize this. Terry is doing this for us in his own time, unfortunately due to the amount of work he has on there isn't much of his own time, he is hoping to sort this out during December and then he will move onto our ring.
Training Schedule for Christmas and a Themed training session
I have decided to open over Xmas with a limited schedule for the period of 23rd December till 7th January. I will put the Xmas schedule up at the gym by the 3rd Dec.
There will be a themed training session in the week between Christmas day and New Year’s day. The theme has not yet been decided. Please get your ideas in before the social evening and we will do our own election that night! I will post the options on Facebook on the Friday night. If you are unable to attend the social evening you can send your proxy vote to me. I will count the votes and but not take part in the voting! Umm I may regret this!
Only current training members or ex-members may vote.
Class Sizes
As you may have noticed the club has grown considerably over the last few weeks. Even though we have 140sq meters of mat to train on, I suspect we are reaching the limit of how many can train at once. I would like to trial having 32 members train in one class. I am looking for the following.
- Do we actually fit! I hear lots of clubs "pack them in". But really is there enough room to actually train.
- Can I provide the same quality of service that I do for 24 students if we add another 8 members to the mat.
- How do you as members feel about it? Is 32 too many? Do you feel like a sardine?
Another option is tweaking the class schedule so I can fit another cardio class in at 7pm, but this may mean changing cardio nights Tuesday and Thursday with kickboxing on Monday and Wednesday.
Everything will be done with feedback from you; at the end of the day there is no point in changing the club from somewhere you enjoy coming too, to a place you don't like.
Dynamic on the Internet...
We have a website @ www.kickboxing.org.nz where information on our club can be found, we are also on Facebook (a lot lol). My account is Dynamic-Martial Arts send a friend request.
What the future holds in 2012.
Kid’s classes
I have already started junior classes for members 9 to 14 years old. They are known as the Wolves. In February I will be starting classes for 5 to 8 years old and they will be called the Tiny Tigers.
Class numbers in the Tiny Tigers are limited to 16 members and 20 members in the Wolves. So if you know of anyone who would like to join these classes let me know as soon as possible to reserve a spot.
Morning classes
I will be changing the days and adding an extra day to the morning sessions. From Monday 9th January, classes will be
- Monday 9am - 10am
- Wednesday 9am - 10am
- Thursday 9am - 10am
Please note there will be no morning classes on Friday
One-on-one training
Dynamic Martial Arts will be offering private one-on-one or couples personal training.
They will be priced $35 for 30 minute only or $60 for the full hour.
Self defence
Next year we will be holding self-defence sessions, these will most likely be on Sundays once a month as a 3 hour seminar.
Rebrand
As you will have noticed there is a lot of Nibun branded gear still around the gym, over the next couple of months you will see this being changed to Dynamic Martial Arts branding.
If anyone wants to know the history of Nibun > Dynamic I am more than happy to tell people, but too long for newsletter!
New logo will out for everyone to see on the social night.
As you can see there is a lot going on, plus much more in wings that I can't release just yet.
My aim for Dynamic Martial Arts is to be the best club to you our members.
Cheers
Dave

Six National Taekwon-Do Champions!
On the 13th and 14th of August 2011 the International Taekwon –Do Foundation of New Zealand held its National Championships at the North Shore Events Centre.

International Taekwon –Do Foundation of New Zealand (ITFNZ) is one of NZ’s largest Martial Arts associations with its Nationals being its premier event of the year.
Six regional teams came together, made up of 60 clubs nationwide to challenge for this title. Dynamic Martial Arts, based in Silverdale, had 9 members as part of this team along with our Taekwon-Do instructor Gary Sawyer being an assistant coach to the regional team.
Our regional team, Auckland North, came 2nd by just a few points however for Dynamic Martial Arts the results were outstanding. Each one of our students brought home a medal and six of them were GOLD!
We now proudly have six Taekwon-Do National Champions. Jessie- May Kelly and Jacob Kelly, brother and sister, made their family double holders when they both received National titles. Merlin Woodhouse, Johnny Pelvin, Cory Ogg and Jacob Hartner brought home the rest. Elliot Pederson, James Wright and Anthony Waith also achieved bronze so the entire team got a placing
The outstanding effort put in by the coach and students meant that, as one of the smaller clubs at Nationals, Dynamic Martial Arts is now ranked 8th nationally and 3rd regionally.
As if the training were not full on enough, Cory Ogg and Jacob Hartner travelled to Te Kuiti to take part in a full contact fight one week before Nationals.
